Disney talks with Openai in lawsuit against Zhongjuni – Report

Earlier this month, Walt Disney Pictures became one of the first major studios to file a lawsuit against a leading AI company. Both Disney and Comcast followed Midjourney in court for allegedly misappropriating the studio's respective copyrighted materials. However, there are now reports that Disney is in a potential partnership with Openai.
As reported BloombergDisney “is not interested in licensing its full library to anyone,” but it follows YouTube, The Atlantic and Vox Media's footsteps, involving possible agreements with OpenAI. The report also noted that Disney contacted other major studios and streamers in a lawsuit against Midjourney, whose company is much smaller than Openai. But Comcast is reportedly the only studio to accept the proposal, as other studios have different priorities. Anyway, Disney suggests that the Midjourney case may just be the beginning of the company's legal battle against AI.
“(Litigation) is part of the campaign to protect our intellectual property rights,” Disney attorney Horacio Gutierrez explained in a conversation with Bloomberg. “This is our first case, but this may not be the last one.”
