Danganronpa 2×2 brings despair for PC and consoles with new storylines in 2026

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair In Danganronpa 2×2 For PCs via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
Spike Chunsoft announced a remake of its 2012 visual novel sequel on Nintendo Direct in September 2025. The upgraded re-release trailer reintroduces players to lure fans' favorite Hope Academy Academy students like Gundham Tanaka, Nagito Komaeda and Mahiru Koizumi into another twisted killing game.
The Danganronpa 2X2 is expected to launch PCs and gaming consoles in North America and Europe sometime in 2026. SpikeChunsoft said it will include the original storyline version of the “freshly remodeled” version on display in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Deberair, including updated visuals with a more beautiful and satisfying gaming experience.
The real draw for Danganronpa 2×2 is a new story that puts players in trouble. It’s unclear that fans have enjoyed more than a decade of desperate storyline enjoyment, but at least it’s confirmed that they can bring back the original character cast.
“Danganronpa 2×2 includes a completely new scenario based on Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Desbair,” Spike Chunsoft said in a statement. “The character's setup and casting remain the same, but some events trigger a completely different chain of events with different victims, culprits and tricks. This new scenario provides the same content as the original.”
