Clair Obscur: Not only was Expedition 33 a huge sales success, it was the biggest new third-party game on Xbox Game Pass in 2025, despite being released two days after The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

So, what is Clair Obscur's Xbox Game Pass competition? It's been a long year, so it's worth reminding ourselves that this turn-based RPG has beaten them all to become the biggest third-party Xbox Game Pass release of the year. (Keep in mind that this is separate from Microsoft's own first-party titles, which include Avowed and South by Midnight, as well as Bethesda games like The Outer Worlds 2, and Activision games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.)

Other third-party games launching on day one via Microsoft's subscription service notably include the highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong, and post-apocalyptic survival game Atomfall. The critically acclaimed indie puzzle games Blue Prince, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, Wuchang: Fallen Feather, Ball X Pit and PowerWash Simulator 2 are also released this year.

Well, congratulations to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – considering its Record number of nominations for The Game Awards. Want to give it a try? It's still on Xbox Game Pass and we have a series Tips on important things to know before entering Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
