EA just launched a new devastating battle royale game Battlefield REDSECand Battlefield 6 Base gamers have posted “mostly negative” reviews on Steam.
PC users go to Steam to experience the independent version of “Battlefield”. Launched for free yesterday on PC and consoleswill encounter a large number of negative impacts steam review comprehensive. At the time of publication, only 35% of REDSEC Steam user reviews are positive, with a slightly higher percentage of 39% across all languages. Both measurements result in a dark red “Mostly Negative” label.
As Battlefield 6 players continue to express their dissatisfaction with the premium experience, negative reviews of Battlefield 6, the latest battle royale game, have followed. Calls for changes to the base game reach boiling point First season launched REDSEC was criticized yesterday and now.
Although Battlefield 6 and REDSEC exist as separate multiplayer titles, the EA and Battlefield Studios games share unlockable content related to many challenges, cosmetics, and Battle Pass unlocks. This has evolved into a question of how one experience affects another, with many Battlefield 6 players complaining about weekly challenges requiring them to play Battle Royale.
“I wouldn't hate it so much if I wasn't forced to play it in the main game for the challenge,” one Battlefield REDSEC negative reviews on Steam explain. “But I am. So I do.”
“This is not why I bought Battlefield 6,” they added.
“Oh, but you can challenge again!” Others negative comments explain. “Yes, 3 of them are still BR because they are putting pressure on people who won’t touch it even once…”
Other PC players agree that the challenge of earning a lot of Battlefield 6 Battle Pass XP shouldn't be tied to other experiences, but dissonance isn't the only reason for REDSEC's Steam review decline. Some base gamers are using Valve's digital storefront to express dissatisfaction related to the size of multiplayer game maps.
Early adopters of Battlefield 6 were clamoring for larger multiplayer maps as early as the August beta, and the October 10 launch only added fuel to the fire, as the launch location failed to live up to the community's expectations. At least a few negative Steam reviews have even praised REDSEC's exclusive battle royale map Lindenberg, and much of their frustration boils down to one question: Why does this free-to-play game get the map sizes that premium players have requested?
“Oh wow, a nice big map with lots of points of interest and flanks,” another Negative REDSEC review explain. “It would be nice if we could get something like this in the main game.”
“It's trying to be too much all at once,” another Steam user reviews added. “The map in this battle royale is very good, but it's criminal so it's not for conquest right now.”
Since Battlefield 6 players aim to make their mark on REDSEC Steam reviews, there are also a lot of reviews that are actually related to the new standalone experience itself. Many were positive, praising how BF Studios blended classic Battlefield mechanics with other popular battle royale experiences like Call of Duty: Warzone. The release also ushered in a peak of activity, including steam database Yesterday, the number of Battlefield 6 players hit a 24-hour peak of 549,766.
In addition to the battle royale mode, REDSEC also includes Gauntlet and Portals modes, which are beloved by the Battlefield community but still generally feel like an incomplete experience. Specifically, many people are criticizing the lack of solo queue options and battle royale fatigue – both in negative and positive reviews.
“There is no single player mode… When will they learn that the vast majority of players play solo?” 1 negative comments asked. “It doesn't feel good to randomly go up against pre-made coordinated squads.”
“Interesting update, the battle pass isn't bad,” positive review added. “My only problem is there's no single-player battle royale mode.”
REDSEC is delivered to the public in just 24 hours. Seasonal updates will continue to provide a shared experience between REDSEC and Battlefield 6. Season 1 launched yesterday, introducing the new Blackwell Fields map for multiplayer, with more mid-season maps and guns set to launch in November and December.
