Battlefield RedSec is a free-to-play battle royale game launching on October 28

The new Battlefield battle royale game has been officially confirmed. The game, called Battlefield: RedSec, will launch on October 28 at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET. As rumored, it will be a free-to-play game.

Battlefield Studios has long announced a battle royale game or mode based on Battlefield 6 and has already allowed testers to play the game, but this is the first time the developer has revealed its name, release date and business model. All of these key details have been leaked.

The name RedSec appears to be a shortened version of “Redacted Sector,” based on the trailer art.

RedSec goes live on the same day Battlefield 6 Season 1 Updatesso it's going to be a busy week for Battlefield fans. It's a busy period for the FPS world, too, with PvPvE game Arc Raiders launching on October 30 and Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launching in November.

Battlefield 6 had a strong start earlier this month, with sales 7 million copies distributedrepresenting the “biggest start” in the history of the legendary FPS series.

RedSec will tap into the already crowded battle royale game market, which currently includes PUBG, Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone and EA's own Apex Legends.
