EA and Battlefield Studios plan to tweak aim assist settings Battlefield 6 Controller Users – But that hasn't stopped PC players from digging into the files to turn off cross-play.
Senior Console Combat Designer Matthew Nickerson Confirmed BF Studios will be “reverting” to the public beta controller target assist settings, an X/Twitter post earlier this week revealed. Since Battlefield 6 launched on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X, fans have been clamoring for this to be a major change, especially for console players. October 10th.
It's much less sticky, so it doesn't create the spin persistence that currently exists. Continuous deceleration, no ramp. Recoil reduction is a system separate from the air defense system, but will also be adjusted once new technology comes online.

Nickerson said changes to return to public testing settings will be coming “shortly,” adding that recoil-reducing tweaks are also coming. While PC and console gamers have divided opinions on the changes to aim assist since the public beta in August, many believe the setting has been tweaked for the worse.
“In the beta, aiming and shooting felt very satisfying, but now aiming feels completely different,” one Popular comments the release said shortly after. “It's harder to fine-tune; I find myself struggling with that goal.”
“I'm not the best with controllers, but I'm pretty good, and I can also confidently say that this issue doesn't exist in the beta,” another Comments at the time explain. “Aiming and aim assist feel really good on the controller.”
BF Studios has made a number of tweaks to Battlefield 6 that have caused strong dissatisfaction among players, but post-test changes related to aim assist have been particularly controversial. In fact, they're so divergent that some PC gamers have recently begun ripping game files just to avoid players using controller accessibility features.
This workaround comes from content creator and X user @otterTweets, who revealed the method For those who are “tired of OP aim assist”. They say digging into the files in “documents/battlefield 6/settings/steam/PROFSAVE” and adding “GstGameplay.CrossPlayEnable 0” turns off cross-platform play entirely.
Unsurprisingly, though, there's a catch for those who do this. Ottr said that by turning off Battlefield 6 PC cross-play, affected players would end up in a lobby full of bots instead of real-world players. If enough PC users turn off cross-platform play, they could theoretically start playing with more actual players, but it might take some time for it to really catch on.
With EA and BF Studios actively preparing to release aim assist tweaks in Battlefield 6 for controller owners, PC players may want to hold off on finding their own way to secretly turn off cross-platform play.
