Battlefield Studios outlines upcoming changes Battlefield 6 Ahead of the launch of Season 1, the anticipated battle royale mode is coming.
in a social media postsThe developer collective has revealed a record-breaking priority update for Battlefield 6. BF Studios says its current focus is on improving the overall performance and combat experience. It's looking at changes to weapon dispersion, balance, visibility, aim assist, progression, and more, with further updates during Season 1.
Changes are now being made to Custom Search to “improve the accuracy of matching to your chosen map and mode preferences.” BF Studios says the system remains flexible to support reasonable queue times, so players with more specific choices may notice slightly longer wait times. “We will continue to monitor custom search performance and continue to fine-tune as needed,” the developers said.
Elsewhere, BF Studios said it recently released a fix that addressed an issue where vehicles sometimes failed to spawn as expected in certain maps and modes. “The current results show that it significantly reduces the number of occurrences and is starting to improve balance issues on certain map/mode combinations,” BF Studios said. “We realize there are some anomalies that are not addressed by this fix and we are working to address these outstanding issues. We are also seeing a slight positive impact on breakout win rates from this backend change, but we are working on further balance changes that are designed to be more impactful and get win rates into a better state.”
One of the hottest topics in the Battlefield community since the game's release has been the availability of portal servers. Earlier this week, BF Studios made XP adjustments to the community experience after players used Portals to earn XP.
Now on to the game details. BF Studios says it plans to change the way players move “to address issues that previously felt inconsistent while maintaining the pace of the game and maintaining the core feel of the launch experience.” At the same time, it's enhancing eye-level stability by minimizing the movement of the crosshair during certain animations. “These adjustments are designed to provide a smoother, more precise aiming experience while retaining the immersive first-person feel,” the developers explain.
As for progress, BF Studios says it's continuing to monitor the impact of the changes made last week, but that it's already seeing a “smoother experience.” It tracks XP earned in Leveling Up and King of the Hill, but doesn't always work as expected. “We plan to significantly increase payouts to bring them in line with other modes and will continue to monitor the changes once they come into effect,” BF Studios said.
“We've seen all of your feedback on the challenge and its criteria, and the team is working on a series of improvements to make the challenge easier to understand and faster to complete,” BF Studios continued. “Given the scale of the challenge, these changes will be rolled out in at least two updates. Some examples we are currently considering are:
- Class Assignment – Assault 1 – Use an Adrenaline Injector to Kill an Enemy – 30 vs. 3
- Coursework – Engineer Expert 3 – Repair vehicles in a game – from 6000 to 1000
- Weapon distribution – Deadeye 2 – Headshot kills within 200m using a sniper rifle – reduced from 150 to 5
- In addition, later game updates will reduce the distance by 200m.
Now about visibility. BF Studios is looking into adjusting exposure and brightness. “This will improve the glare players experience when viewing outdoors, excessive darkness when viewing indoors, and the lack of visibility around weapon optics when zooming in,” the developers said.

When the Season 1 update begins on October 28, BF Studios will be making some adjustments to the behavior of weapon scatter. These changes are intended to ensure that each weapon's accuracy better reflects its expected performance at range. BF Studios said it also fixed a bug where dispersion was not reduced as expected when transitioning from sprinting to prone position.
“We will continue to improve the accuracy of weapons in combat to make firing across all weapon types feel more consistent and rewarding,” the developers said. “Our upcoming adjustments will reduce the overall impact of dispersion across multiple weapon types while keeping the core intent intact. Burst fire will still be the most efficient way to control weapons, and each weapon will still perform best at its intended range. We've also identified a few bugs that caused weapons to feel less accurate than intended:
- Shoot after sprinting: Weapons that fire immediately after sprinting while zooming may maintain higher dispersion, reducing accuracy.
- Movement starts: When players start moving, dispersion increases faster than it should, and even small adjustments can unexpectedly affect accuracy. This is especially noticeable on controllers.
Battlefield Labs will be taking a “brief hiatus” so that BF Studios can focus on rolling out the first season. That's probably not surprising considering the ideas behind Battlefield Labs were helped shape Battlefield 6 before its release. BF Studios promises that the gameplay will return and “we will continue to work together to develop the future of Battlefield 6.”
battle royale mode, Despite a series of leaks, EA has largely kept it under wrapsalso on the way. BF Studios says it has made the changes based on player feedback:
- Close range TTK: We've adjusted close-range kill times for all weapons to reward clean targeting and tracking while giving players more time to counterattack. Once online, we will continue to monitor.
- Armor changes: Now, everyone can start the game with 2 armor plates. All players spawn with 1 plate, so you have a chance to level up as soon as you start looting, giving everyone an equal chance to fully upgrade their armor.
- World improvements: We're always fixing annoying world bugs and optimizing areas to improve the environment. With these improvements, we've made adjustments to lighting and enhanced visibility across the map.
- Vehicle balance: We've tweaked the balance of helicopters and tanks to make them powerful tools that showcase the core DNA of Battlefield, rather than making them necessary to survive or win late-game. This includes significant adjustments to helicopter countermeasures and ammunition economics.
- We've also been working on delivering smoother overall performance. We've identified and fixed a number of performance-impacting issues that we simply wouldn't have been able to fix without players participating in testing.
