There's no shortage of retro handhelds and consoles bearing the Atari brand, but My Arcade's latest flagship device aims to deliver the ultimate portable experience. this AtariGamestation Go is a 7-inch handheld computer with over 200 games and some unique control methods, including paddles, trak-balls, and even a numeric keypad. Retro fans interested in a Gamestation Go may want to get their hands on one as soon as possible. Pre-orders for the $180 laptop are sold out on Atari's website, but you can still buy one from Amazon ahead of its October 31 release.
Atari Gamesstation Go and Atari Gamesstation Go released on the same day Cassette-based Pac-Man version for the Atari 2600+. Get a closer look at the Gamestation Pro below.
$180 | Released October 31
Gamestation Go is designed to replicate the experience of more than 200 Atari classic games by offering a variety of different control options. On the left side of the handheld, you'll find the d-pad, trak ball, and integrated paddle. Below the four front buttons on the right is a 12-button numeric keypad containing 0-9 as well as numeric symbols and asterisks. It also features four shoulder buckles.
Atari 8-bit and 16-bit games used a variety of controllers, and the Gamestation Go was designed to provide the most comprehensive experience yet in a handheld form factor. One interesting feature is called SmartGlow, which illuminates the controls for every game you launch.
The built-in game library includes a variety of arcade and console games from the Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, and Atari Arcade. Notable publisher partners include Bandai Namco (Pac-Man), Jaleco and Piko Interactive. It also comes with modern “charged” versions of five classic games, including Asteroids and Centipede. Another highlight is Balls of Steel, a pinball game with seven different tables. The full list of games can be found on the Amazon store page.
The Gamestation Go's built-in 7-inch display looks beautiful in promotional videos and images, but if you want a home console experience, you can connect the included HDMI cable to a TV or monitor to play games on the big screen.
It's unclear exactly which controllers the Gamestation Go supports, but the handheld computer has a pair of USB-C ports on the back for multiplayer gaming. We know My Arcade is making official controllers and joysticks, but we hope Gamestation Go supports other controllers similar to the Game Station Pro home console.
$80 (originally $100)
The Atari Gamesstation Pro is My Arcade's dedicated home gaming console. The Gamestation Pro, due out in late 2023, also has a library of more than 200 games and comes bundled with two wireless joysticks. If you're primarily interested in console gaming, the Gamestation Pro would be a better choice, as it's currently only $80 on Amazon. Alternatively, you can purchase a refurbished version in “Good” condition from Amazon Renewed for $60.
The included joystick isn't the best, but you can use many third-party controllers with the Gamestation Pro via a hardwired USB connection.
Affordable portable device for $40 or less.
My Arcade is one of the most popular manufacturers of affordable retro handhelds themed around classic arcade and early home console games. If you're interested in playing some old Atari or arcade games on a handheld device without spending $180, you have plenty of options in the $25 to $40 range.
We created an Amazon hub that collects three different series of My Arcade portable devices. You can get themed handhelds based on Tetris, Atari, Mega Man, Street Fighter, Pac-Man, and other classic games.
You can take a closer look at My Arcade's Pocket Player Pro, Pocket Player, and the new Pixel Pocket Pro handheld device below.
Pocket Player Pro is a series of portable devices featuring a 2.75-inch color display, ergonomic form factor and wrist strap. Each Pocket Player Pro retails for $45, but you can buy several models now. It's worth noting that Atari Pocket Player Pro includes 100 pre-installed games and can be purchased for just $40. Pocket Player Pro charges via USB-C or is powered by four AA batteries.

There's also the standard Pocket Player handheld, which is a bit confusing, but one of the core differences is that the Pro model has better ergonomics and improved controls. That said, the average Pocket Player handheld usually has at least three built-in games, which makes deciding which Pac-Man handheld to buy a little tricky. There are also examples like Tetris, where the regular Pocket Player costs just $25, while the Pro model is $45. There is also a vertical version of the classic puzzle game called Tetris Go player $26 (originally $35). Screen sizes vary across the Pocket Player series, but most are 2.75 inches, like the Pro versions. By the way, Tetris Pocket Player— technically called Tetris Player V — has 200 bonus games.
My Arcade has just launched its latest line of budget handheld devices called the Pixel Pocket Pro. As you can see in the image above, the Pixel Pocket Pro has a stylized aesthetic, with an angular design that resembles the blocky shapes of pixel art. The Pixel Pocket Pro handheld device features a 2-inch color display, runs on three AAA batteries, and comes with a keychain clip. Some Pixel Pocket Pro handheld devices, including Atari models containing 25 games and Tetris have a horizontal form factor, while other games like Pac-Man and Galaga have a vertical orientation.
