A French retailer has all but confirmed Assassin's Creed Shadows coming indeed nintendo switch 2it looks like this will be another controversial game-critical card game.
Although rumors about the port have been circulating ever since PEGI rated its console version of the adventure game back in Aprilthis is the first time we’ve seen the retailer Share Assassin's Creed: Shadows box artnews players will be able to “experience Assassin's Creed: Shadows in a whole new way with Nintendo Switch 2.”
As pointed out by eagle-eyed members GamingLeaksAndRumours subredditHowever, the key art used in the new retail listing also suggests that the game will come in the form of a game key fob. This means that unlike, say, Cyberpunk 2077 is fully contained on a 64GB cartridge On Switch 2, players must download some or all of the game to play.
This is likely to divide fans, who will continue to debate the publisher's practice of providing game key fobs with Switch 2 boxed games instead of physical cartridges. The practice has proven divisive among some, especially because while it allows collectors to keep game cartridges on their shelves, they are essentially useless unless your console is connected to the internet.
Nintendo recently launched a survey Designed to survey the Switch 2 user base on their views on digital and physical gaming, with questions exploring why you might consider one option over the other. Nintendo is also interested in knowing whether your attitudes toward digital downloads have changed over time.
In September, a Ubisoft developer working on the Nintendo port star wars desperadoes Defending the use of game keycardsstated that the real reason for using a game key fob for the Switch 2 version of Star Wars Desperados is the Switch 2's data speeds, and how quickly the hardware can read information from a custom cartridge, rather than downloading the game to the console's memory.
Later in September, Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy director Naoki Hamaguchi hinted that developers were choosing game key fobs not necessarily from a cost perspective, but from a performance perspective. Because this format allows them to bring smoother gaming to Switch 2.
If you missed Assassin's Creed Shadows the first time around, now might be a good time to give it a try. Released back in March, Rated 8/10 by IGN Reviews.
