All Careers in The Sims 4: Job, Tips and How to Promote
Blog Andrew Joseph 24 May , 2025 0

There are many different jobs to choose from in The Sims 4, including the very robust career group included in the basic game, and more careers have been added to the Sims 4 for over a decade. The job you have for The Sims enrollment is entirely up to you, but there are many factors that can affect your performance, such as whether the SIM card's skills are right for the job you want. If you want your Sims to be successful, it takes some knowledge and effort – just like real work.
While you need to know the specific knowledge of each profession to help you succeed, there are some general tips to help your Sims climb their company ladder.
General tips for any Sims 4 career
Choose an active, self-employed or rabbit hole job
There are three main types of careers in The Sims 4. Most of them are rabbit hole-type homework, and your Sims are just walking away on the screen and doing your own thing without any meaningful input from the player. But there are also “active” careers where you can follow your SIM to their location where you have to get them through various tasks (although you can also work as a rabbit hole if you want), as well as self-employed and freelancer careers, where your SIM card will complete a single show in the comfort of their home, such as writing a book, painting pictures or building furniture.
Doing well in school
Teens who have achieved good grades in high school will automatically get one or two career levels in any job they work – AB GPA will join your Sim for the rest of your life in the second level of each career, and A Will Will Will Will Will Will Will Will Will Will Will Start on the Third Level. Again, there are some specific college degrees that can help you start your level and performance – we will notice below.
Obtain career-related reward allowances
In your lifetime wish reward, you can buy some privileges, which will be of great help to any career you pursue. Professional lazy people (4000 bonus points) will get it so you will never lose your job or be demoted for underperforming, and the contact characteristics will put you in three career levels higher than usual – this is the stack of any bonuses you get in high school or college. Savant Perk (4000 points) improves all skills by 25% as most jobs have specific promotional skills requirements.
Actually do this job
In most cases, this job will tell you exactly what the SIM needs to do to succeed. Most jobs will require you to complete certain tasks (basically homework) when you stand out or improve certain skills to win promotions – whatever these requests will be listed in the Career tab in the lower right corner of the screen. Likewise, active careers will provide your Sims with random tasks while they are in the office, and if you don't do that at least every day, you end up making very little money.
Work overtime
Some jobs allow your SIM to stay for two hours at the normal end of the shift, which can improve their job performance and earn overtime pay. Use this option to improve your career faster.
Apart from that, you need to improve your skills in each profession and make sure your SIM card does the job as much as possible. To help you, below, you will find a list of every normal and positive career in The Sims 4, along with a list of related skills, ideal emotions, and which college degrees are the most relevant. Follow this guide and no matter which profession you put your SIM card into, they will immediately shoot in cash and holidays.
