On sale November 17 steam and Xbox for PC Action role-playing game Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE is launching soon, and to celebrate, it's setting up a booth at TwitchCon in San Diego this week, where players can try out the new demo and win special merchandise.
Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE lets you step into the world of the popular Solo Leveling series, centered around protagonist Sung Jinwoo. It's built for PC and consoles (with a console release scheduled for 2026) and features an original story as well as new adventures exclusive to the game.
If you're not familiar with the series, it takes place in a world where people with supernatural abilities (called hunters) must protect humanity from a never-ending attack by monsters. Typically, a hunter's abilities and power levels are determined when their powers first manifest. But Zhenyu has a unique ability: he can level up. So while he starts out as a low-level hunter, he becomes more powerful the more enemies he defeats. Now his personal goal is to become the strongest hunter in the world.
It's obvious why this premise works for the game, which essentially has an RPG progression system built into it. SOLO UPGRADE: ARISE OVERDRIVE builds on this foundation with a skill tree broken down into eight distinct career progressions. Through the course of the webcomic, Jin-woo transforms into the ultimate Shadow Lord, and now you can experience his evolution for yourself.
As you can see in the video above, Jinwoo can switch between weapons and combine basic attacks with flashy special abilities to build combos. But you can't just attack blindly, you need to keep an eye on your enemies and react to their attacks and area-of-effect attacks. You can execute perfectly timed parries or dodges to negate damage and launch powerful counterattacks to keep the fast-paced flow and combo meters climbing.
No matter how you defeat enemies, they'll drop loot that you can use to craft new weapons, including ones lifted directly from the original webcomic, like Kasaka's fangs and the Demon King's daggers. There are a variety of weapon types to choose from, and your fighting style will depend on your weapon and skill tree choices. This allows for a variety of styles, just like in the original story, giving you the chance to try out different options and find what works best for you.
You'll face tons of enemies and bosses on your own, but some are too powerful for even the upgraded Jin-woo to deal with. This is where multiplayer comes in. You can team up in four-player co-op raids against commanders that series veterans will recognize, and you can play as Jinwoo or one of the other hunters with their own unique skills.
If you're interested in learning more, don't miss TwitchCon, which starts on Friday, October 17th and runs through Sunday, October 19th. The Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE booth is open to the public, so any live attendees can come and try out the demo. The booth will also host events, with exclusive merchandise available for those who complete them.
If you can't attend in person, don't worry. There will also be streamers coming to the live broadcast room inside the booth to play demos and share gameplay with their channels. The game will be released on Steam and Xbox PC on November 17, with a console release planned for next year.
