If you are not a regular movie audience in 1994, it must have been a confusing year, thanks to everyone around you who caresses their speeches with the slogan “Alriiiiiiiighty then.” Jim Carrey starts in the box office breakthrough year Ace Ventura: Pet Detectiveand finally, this comedy classic was released on July 29 on 4K Blu-ray. Limited edition Steelbook version available for pre-order Walmart $33 or $36 on Amazon.
Amazon has been sold out (at full price), but if it still comes in stock this time, we hope retailers will match Walmart prices before launching. That said, price matching may also be done in other ways, with Walmart raising its price to $36.

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective's 4K Blu-ray version is negative using the original 35mm camera. It supports Dolby Vision with HDR10 and DTS-HD 5.1 surround sound. There is no new bonus features, but both the 4K Blu-ray disc and the remade 1080p Blu-ray disc include audio reviews from director Tom Shadyac. The latter should offer better visual and audio quality than the original Blu-ray release, as it is based on 4K transmission. Blu-ray disc also has a drama trailer.
The 1997 Laserdisc release of Pet Detective has a 3-episode Ace Ventura animation series, but unfortunately, these plots never followed by Blu-ray releases.
The Iron Box features original artwork of Ventura’s iconic hairstyle and a $25,000 dove resting on Jim Carrey’s head.

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective also received the standard version of 4K Blu-ray release on the same day. Although it is officially called the “collector's edition”, there is no doubt that the collector's edition is the steel book version mentioned above. This version includes a standard plastic case and cardboard sleeve, which includes one of the promotional images for the drama release.
At the time of writing this article on May 21, the version is actually more expensive than both retailers’ limited edition Steelbooks.
Ace Ventura was one of the biggest comedy movies of the mid-1990s, thanks largely to Jim Carrey's crazy performance as a titular pet detective.
