EA frankly says fans The Sims 5 shouldn't be expected to be quick. However, if you are looking for a new version from the franchise, you will be happy to know that it is actually the new Sims game released in July. Have you missed this big news somehow? Of course I did it, that's because it's really just a board game. The Sims board game arrived at Target on July 20, 2025, and seems to be largely unnoticed.
It's been a lot since then. It's been a long time since I Played The Sims 4but it took a lot of time in that game and I couldn't really conceptualize how it would transition to the desktop experience effectively. The board game itself is a collaboration with Goliath Announced in February And got some news from various game stores, but people who can buy it now seem to be talking about it.
Sims board game is now available
I have no plans to buy or play this game, but for this article Watch the official video Recently posted on the Goliath YouTube channel. After about five and a half minutes sitting on the whole process, I was still not sure how to classify the game or even actually play it. Although the narrator hints at “abandoning the rulebook” early in the video, gameplay and rules don’t seem necessary. The main theme of the game is that each player tries to earn points by completing wishes and various actions throughout the game. The first player to win 8 points won the victory, with a reward choice that can reach 10 points instead of making the game longer.
It's as confusing as the gameplay, and the biggest impact I have on this game is that it's targeted at 2-5 players. This immediately eliminates the thing about playing my favorite Sims: I have to do it myself. Introducing one or more players into the experience seems to be the secret to disaster. It is as a Family board gamebut I can never imagine trying to play this with my actual family.
Although originally launched on Target, the Sims board game is currently available for pre-order from Amazon on August 15th release date. If you want to give it a try, the price is actually $19.99.
