Junji Ito has been regarded as the gold standard for horror comics for decades. The anime adaptation is not long – the total run time in four episodes is 96 minutes – but you are getting rewarded materials like trailers, promotional videos, and art galleries.

If you have never read the original comics, Uzumaki It is an internationally renowned horror series that takes place in a town where everything has become a spiral and the local people have begun to lose contact with reality. Saito and Goshima are trapped in it, and they must find a way to escape the madness of twisting their bodies and minds. The anime adaptation was first announced in 2019, but was often postponed until it finally aired by the end of 2024.
One of the reasons behind the delay is that the production studio needs more time to faithfully reproduce and animate the detailed art of Ito, and its reception is mixed at best. As a companion work for the comics, it is available, but after the well-recognized first episode, the show did drop in quality. Maybe the real horror here is seeing how beloved comics adapt to widescreen TV.

The silver lining here is that Uzumaki anime is a great commercial for the faraway comics.
