Today is the first day of MagicCon Vegas, and it's the latest celebration of Magic All Things: The Gathering. The hour-long panel continues with MagicCon tradition, giving us a glimpse of some of the “elements” of the future of Magic, including the first-ever card for the upcoming crossover set.
Avatar Aang: The last air shed is revealed on the panel, a double-sided card that also seems to reveal what each element bending effect will do in the upcoming set. Depending on the back of the card, the bending of the element master Aang may be as follows:
- Air: Life Growth
- Water: Card
- Fire: Burning
- Earth: +1/ +1 counters
Multiple cards from the Eternal Edge were also revealed during the panel, with the next Universe Magic Expansion scheduled to launch in August. Previews of the Space Opera-inspired suit include a return villain from Tezzeret, as well as a new face of Sami's crew engineer and commemorative second lieutenant Tannuk. The team also confirmed the impact land return standard format as it also showed trampling on the ground, breeding pool, godless shrine, sacred foundries and water graves. We also have to return from MTG to Lorwyn's eclipse of Lorwyn's artwork, but no card text was revealed.
Eternal Edge will be released on August 1, Avatar: Avatar: The Last Athlete of Magic’s First Show: The Party on November 21. The parties will be the September 26 Spider-Man extension, with more news expected to be released next month at San Diego Comic Fair.
