Strongly object to Randy Pitchford Controversial Border 4 $80 Comments Having upgraded, video game publishers jump on the trend to promote their games. Meanwhile, Pitchford himself pointed out his previous comments on the Borderlands 4 price, declaring: “If you want the truth, then it’s here.”
Such a publisher is Devolver Digital, the reputation of digital avant-garde marketing that often takes advantage of hot topics on social media. Devolver is behind the scenes of Miami Hotline and the Lambs Worship and what it does with Pitchford here.
If you're late to the party, Pitchford will raise backlash by responding to a fan of one of his concerns about the prospects of Borderlands 4, saying, “If you're a real fan, you'll find a way to do that.”
Here is the communication:
“Randy, this game is better at $80. Don't take risks, many gamers don't pay $80, but feed the concept of rising prices. You're the CEO, and you have a certain opinion when publishers are targeting publishers.”
Here is Randy Pitchford's response:
“a) Not my phone number. b) If you’re a real fan, you’ll find a way to achieve this. My local game store received Starflight from Sega Genesis for $80 in 1991, when I just left high school, at the minimum wage at the ice cream shop in Pismo Beach, and I found a way to do that.”
Devolver QT'DIGN promotes Mycopunk, the upcoming co-op first-person shooter based on Missions Mission, said: “You will be able to buy Mycopunk for you and three friends at the price of a copy of Borderlisds 4.”
Pitchford himself caught the tweet and QT himself: “mycopunk is cheaper than methamphetamine – and probably less!”

As you might expect, the reaction to this tweet was mostly negative. “I'm going to Pirates Border 4,” said one X/Twitter user. “Please stop. Just apologize and keep moving forward. This is not fair to your developers. If you care about them, do the right thing,” another added. One commentator said: “Randy, we beg you to stop. BL4 hype is too much and a day is ruined. Make people want to like and support the game and all the great people.”
At the time of publication, Pitchford has not withdrawn his comments or apologizes for it. but He really points to His recent answer gave the Pax East stage at the Borderlands 4 price, calling it: “If you want the truth, here it is.”
Last week, in the Pax East panel, Pitchford insisted that he didn't know the Borderlands 4 price, but refused to exclude $80.
He said: “I will tell you the truth. I don't know. It's the fact. I will directly impress it. It's a fun moment.”
“On one level, we have a highly competitive market that makes those who choose want to sell as many units as possible, and they want to be cautious about people who are price sensitive. Some people don’t want to see prices rise, or even decide what the price is.
“There are other people who are accepting the reality that the gaming budget is increasing, and the tariffs on retail packaging. You’re getting worse there.

Pitchford continued: “This is the philosophy we have, no matter what the price is: we are artists. Yes, we want to get more resources so that we can make bigger, better games better. This is why Borderlands 4 is so great: It's because you guys showed up and supported Borderlands 3, and we have budgets, we have budgets. We can get bigger budgets and bigger games in that bigger place.
As artists, we want everyone to have it. We want to make it as easy as possible for everyone to enjoy what we are creating. So, this is a strange thing. The basic philosophy is that we want people to buy it so we have more resources to make more, but we want everyone to have the gearbox game to make sure they are sure they are better at their price, with the greatest value in both price.
“So we'll be pricing soon. This could be the new price led by Nintendo and Microsoft. We might stay. It's going to be the people at the publishing house that decide this. If it's cheaper. If it's cheaper, then maybe we'll sell to your lad, you hope you'll develop that bad guy. How bad you want.
He concluded: “The border area is amazing, it’s worth it.”
Some social media users say Pitchford's Pax East review is worth pointing out first that Backlash is now a major brand issue before Borderlands 4.
“This is a perfect response and should be left in this regard.” “Occupy the land to go to the ribbon” says. “Your second response is to be strongly opposed not because of the price of the game, but because of the wording. By this time next year, each game will be $80. However, due to BL4's ambition, enthusiasm and quality, Beldrands fans want the price to be reasonable. The ambition, enthusiasm and quality of BL4 will have. They want them to have a lot of impacts on their experiences that have gone beyond their reach. Fans “The mentality is not like this, it just hurts those who want to support the game.” ”
Publisher 2K Games is expected to announce the price of Borderless 4 when pre-orders go online soon. Borderlands 4 will be released on September 12, 2025.
In a recent interview, IGN asked Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick if the company will get $80 for the game. Zelnick won't say any way, but does say consumers will be “willing to pay for the best expenses”.
“I've said for a long time that we offer great value, that's our job,” Zenick said. “Of course, we certainly believe that the value we offer is just amazing compared to other forms of entertainment, whether it's movie tickets, live events or live services, to the value we offer is just amazing. It's our job. To provide more value than what we charge for is our job. We think that's our goal. We think consumers are willing to give the best job for our job. It's our best job.”
