Lately, we have been writing a lot about the ongoing tariff chaos in the United States Influence the gaming industryfrom Console arrive Accessories Go to the software. Then Some people It seems to be very concerned How this may affect consumers and businessesTake-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick seems to have a relatively unaware of the tariff concepts of today’s Q&A calls with investors.
At the end of the call, Zelnick was asked if he was particularly concerned about potential gaming console prices and their impact on the entire gaming ecosystem. This refers to the recent price increase Xbox Series Game Consoleand Expected PlayStation 5 Increase It may follow.
Zelnick believes that the confusion of the round-trip tariffs is that Take-Two’s financial guidance will be fair at least for the coming year:
“Essentially, our guide is part of the next ten months, not yet passed, and it's hard to predict where the tariffs will land, considering how the situations have collided so far, we've been meaningfully impacted for our guide, meaningfully and meaningfully, unless it's statistically within both ranges in any case. It's pre-published, so I think we have enough insights that we won't be affected by any changes.”
Zelnick has reason to be confident. As he pointed out, most games that will be released in the coming fiscal year will be on platforms that people already have. Some people who buy or don't buy the Xbox series or PS5 or even the Nintendo Switch 2 won't make a huge difference. More importantly, Take-Two's revenue comes from digital purchases in ongoing games like GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2 and its mobile business, which are not subject to tariffs at all.
Still, as Zelnick points out, everything is still in the air. We've talked with analysts about tariffs over the past few months and everyone reiterated that this situation is changing and unpredictable, and even the CEO of Take-Two has room for it.
We spoke directly with Zelnick, including discussions, before investors called on the company quarter GTA 6 development timeline, and Zelnick's idea In the game's recent Delayed until next year. We also wrote a Q&A review about Zelnick's Nintendo Switch 2 and why he Optimistic about its release.
