Warhammer 40,000: Space Navy 2 Fans were delighted after the developers handed the keys to their internal editors, which sparked the hope that it could “do the sky” and lasted for years with user-generated content.
Game Director Dmitry Grigorenko participated in Space Marine Corps 2 Modification Disharmony, announcing what he called “the biggest milestone in our support for the Modification Community to date.”
Developer Saber Interactive has released an official integration studio for public use. This is an editor internal to developers for all game development. The first version allows Modders to use everything from level schemes to game modes, with AI behavior, capabilities and melee combination logic, user interface, and HUD elements, and makes most of the universal modifications work with Space Marine 2 faster and easier.
“I promised not too long ago that we would support the remodeling scene – we mean it,” Grigolenko said. “It's both inspiring and frustrating to watch this community grow, boundaries and create incredible experiences. We're excited to see what you're building next – whether it's the movement of the movie, the wild new game mode or something we've never seen before.”
To get the ball roll, Grigorenko released the Jokey Concept Art for the “With Daddy Calgar” mini-game below, which is now technically OK with these tools. Calgar is Marneus Calgar, the head of the Moormarin chapter of the Space Marine Corps.

To find out what plans does Space Navy 2 modify the community plan with this editor, I have a quick chat with Tom Warhammer Workshopthe simulator behind it Excellent Astates overhaul of Space Navy 2. Fresh release Enable mod 2 of 12 players in Space Ocean 2Tom told me that he now has all the scripting tools that control what happens in any particular mission, as well as all the different game components (such as weapons and abilities).
This means that the modder can create a Space Marine 2 roguelite mode where the Modders spawn in a cluster sequence except for the combat knife and gradually produce larger, tougher enemies and have spawning weapons, AMMO and health opportunities at death. Tom advises: “Killing carnifex may bring you a heavy fortress.”
As for a brand new movie movement, Tom says that while a chaotic movement is definitely possible, cutscenes are tricky because so far, the modder has no access to the necessary animation tools.
However, Tom is currently planning to add the new faction to Space Ocean 2 (including Tau and Necrons) because the Modders have rigs that fit these. Meanwhile, the Space Marine 2 Modding community is in competition and actually fishing with Daddy Calgar Mini-Game Mod Grigorenko has challenged them.
The reaction of Space Marine 2 fans was very positive and for good reason. Although Space Marine 2 has received good reviews and has become one of the best-selling Warhammer video games of all time, it is relatively limited in terms of its official product. That said, it contains only three factions: Space Marines, Chaos (Chaos Marines and some Tzeentch Daemons) and Tyrants. Players had hoped that DLC might expand its faction roster (Space Navy 2 campaign, ridiculing the Necromancer), but now it can take matters into their own hands.
“That’s how you keep the game alive for a few years like Skyrim.” Redditor Mortwight says.
This is a particularly interesting development in the context of the announcement of Saber and Publisher Focus Entertainment Warhammer 40,000: Space Navy 3 is under development. Some 2 Space Navy fans expressed concern about the significance of this potential DLC, although Sabre and Focus both insist that they won't give up on the game. Still, Space Marine 2 is in much better position, and now Modder has an editor.
