Border 4 Launched in September, its developer head claimed that he didn't know what the price was. Transmission owner Randy Pitchford asked him today on Pax East if he could reveal the price point of the race, which he said may be lower than people expected.
“I will tell you the truth, I don't know.” “That's the truth.”
“It's an interesting moment. On one level, we have a highly competitive market where people who choose (pricing) want to sell as many units as possible and they want to be careful with price-sensitive people.” “So some people don't want to see prices going up, even those who decide how much the price is. There are others who accept the reality that the game budget is increasing, and retail packaging is also about taxes. It's getting more and more.”
Pitchford went on to say that Borderlands 4 is “more than twice” of the development budget for the border areas. He said bookings for Borderlands 4 will open “soon”, and this is when people can find prices.
The executive went on to say he hoped the game would sell well so the gearbox could reinvest those funds into future products, but as an artist, he wanted the game to be as accessible as possible to help it reach its widest audience. “So it’s weird,” he said of the pricing dynamics.
Pitchford says the philosophy about gearbox pricing is to make everyone feel like they’ve got a lot of deals from communication — that is, the Borderlands 4 feels it’s worth it.
“We'll have a price soon. This could be a new price led by Nintendo and Microsoft. We might stay. It's going to be the people in the publishing house decide.
Nintendo is Charge $80 for Mario Karting and Microsoft also raises the price to $80 For some games later this year. Another 2K game, Mafia: Old Countrywill be sold for $50 The intentional bidding calls for players who don't have a lot of free time.
