One of the most iconic scenes in The Last Part Two is Ellie playing A-ha for Dina’s 1980s “Taking Me” improvisational concert. While planning Season 2, performance host Craig Mazin knew he would include that moment, but wanted to make sure he got it right. In the case of episode 4, fans see a scene reappearing with Bella Ramsey and Isabela Merced.
Talk about Sony Creator of CreatorMazin, Ramsey and Merced, as well as co-stars Gabriela Luna and Young Mazino, talked about the early days of production and actors, but also tried to play as accurately as possible in the most important scenes.
“I hope the music store scene will be included,” Merced said. “That was really special to me, leaving a mark on me.”
Mazin confirmed that Ramsey played and sang himself and sang himself: “Bella did all this huge work because they were very good at playing guitar and singing while playing guitar…I played guitar, but I played guitar, but I wasn't very good. So you have a lot of time to practice. You have to get stuck in reality, especially in the first part, where Ellie was just playing on her own until Dina came in.”
Luna talks about that part of playing the game, where you have to use the controller’s touchpad and springs to match the wires to activate the scene. He also said he played several of his songs using the touchpad and wondered if Ramsey also had his own music because they also wrote their own music.
“Talking about that scene, I remember seeing your reaction so beautifully.” “I remember that day your emotions were so close to the ground. I remember that it was so beautiful when I wasn't watching your reaction in front of the camera… It was a very special day.”
Merced agreed: “I think you have an old soul, when you have an old soul, even if they are young, when you sing, sometimes it comes out. I feel your voice is piercing my heart. At that moment, it's hard to cry.”
The new episode of Doomsday is on HBO and Max at 6pm/9pm ET.
