Marathon shutdown Alpha starts in April, here's how to register

As part of the showcase for Bungie's next game, the studio announced a closed Alpha test and confirmed how players register for access.

Marathon's closed alpha starts later this month, players can join Marathon Discord Channel Bungie said its team will be “actively involved” in the Discord channel, including conducting live Q&As, and generally discuss the project directly with fans.

Marathon is a team-based extraction shooter. This is the successor to Bungie's 1994 game of the same name. Today’s Bungie is known for her work on fate and halo franchise, and the original marathon was one of Bungie’s first big successes for Mac and Apple Pippin.

Marathon 2: Durandal followed closely in 1995, and the marathon was infinite in 1996. It wasn't until 2001 that Bungie really exploded in a major way with the debut of Halo: Combat.

Sony now has Bungie, but the new marathon is only available for platforms other than PS5, including the Xbox Series X|S and PC-Cross-play are supported on all platforms. The marathon will mark Bungie's first new release since Sony acquired the company in 2022.
