Pokemon Pokopia, first released in September 2025, is set in a world where humans have disappeared and is inspired by games such as Minecraft, Animal Crossing and Dragon Quest Builders. A peculiar Dito returns to find the land blighted, its only remaining inhabitants being Tangloss, known simply as Professor Tangworth. Ditto uses his shape-shifting powers to pose as a human in an effort to restore the land and inspire other Pokémon to return.
Players won't be limited to just one island, as Ditto can transform into Lapras or Dragonite to reach new locations. Crafting also plays an important role in Pokemon Pokopia, as collected materials can be crafted into tools and infrastructure to improve buildings and complete tasks.
“Pokemon Pokopia” will be Nintendo's first Switch 2 game released in the form of a game key card. This means the physical cartridge will be used as an authentication device, and you'll still need to download the full game to your console. It's worth noting that game keycards are not tied to your console, so you can choose to resell them in the future. The game will take up approximately 10GB of space – so if you plan on purchasing the game, you'll want to consider purchasing a microSD Express card to increase storage capacity. Fortunately, Amazon has a lot of deals right now this Samsung P9 512GB card. Originally priced at $100, now on sale for $75 while supplies last.
