“Dragon Quest” producer Yuji Horii says “Final Fantasy 10” is “ultimate perfection”

“In Final Fantasy, you observe the protagonist, but you don't necessarily become the protagonist in the game. So I thought that was a very interesting and clear difference between Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy, but I didn't necessarily see them as competitors at the time.”

However, with Final Fantasy X, that may have changed.

“Final Fantasy, again,[the protagonist]just talks a lot,” Horii added. “I do love Final Fantasy, though. When I first saw Final Fantasy X, I remember feeling like it was the ultimate perfection of Final Fantasy.”
