Activision Blizzard has revealed major changes to the Call of Duty battle pass for Black Ops 7 Season 1 that should make progress faster.
Battle passes have been a hotly debated topic in recent years, with Call of Duty players often complaining about how long it takes to unlock all the content – even if you buy the premium version, as well as the more expensive BlackCell version.
exist A new blog postActivision Blizzard says it has “learned lessons” from the completion times of the Black Ops 6 battle pass and made adjustments for a “more satisfying journey.” The result is that each season's battle pass in Black Ops 7 should “make the time you spend in the game more valuable, no matter where you play in each section of the game.”
So, how does this work? Early pages in the Black Ops 7 Battle Pass will now be completed faster, fewer tiers are required to unlock High Value Target (HVT) content at the end of the page, and later pages in the Battle Pass will contain more rewards. Activision says this means players will have faster access to more HVT content across all 100 levels.
And, for the first time, Activision has added the ability to earn Battle Pass Tokens by completing daily challenges, which can now be used not only in multiplayer, Zombies, and Call of Duty: Warzone, but also in co-op campaigns and endgame. On certain days during the season, completing daily reward challenges will grant you Battle Pass Tokens, which can be used immediately to unlock tiers.
Call of Duty players who regularly play through the Battle Pass will welcome these changes, especially the increase in earning tokens through challenges. This should speed things up by default, but now that there's more content to complete in the later pages of the battle pass, it remains to be seen how overall progression feels.
The Season 1 Battle Pass includes up to 1,100 COD Points, 11 operator skins, 26 blueprints and weapons, and 119 rewards, 23 of which are free, including two new base weapons. You can purchase the Battle Pass for 1,100 COD Points, or the Battle Pass Bundle for 2,400 COD Points, which also gives you 20 Tokens to use.
Earlier this week, new data showed “Black Ops 7” sales lag behind “Battlefield 6” and even “Black Ops 6”. Activision has not released sales figures for the game or commented on its commercial performance. Microsoft has yet to reveal whether Black Ops 7 increases Game Pass subscriptions in any way.
Activision Blizzard is also in trouble with U.S. lawmakerswho shouted The company uses generative artificial intelligence Call of Duty: Black Ops 7calling for stronger supervision to “prevent companies from using artificial intelligence to eliminate job opportunities.”
