“Spring is looking so good” – 007 First Light developer sounds happy with GTA 6’s delays

If there is a big winner after postponement grand theft auto 6 From May 26, 2026 to November 19, 2026, 007 The first ray of light.
In September last year, IO Interactive, the Danish developer of the “Hitman” game, set the release date of the James Bond action-adventure “Dawn of Dawn” as March 27, 2026, just two months ahead of the release date of “Grand Theft Auto 6.” Rockstar announces delay to November.
Under normal circumstances, two months would be enough breathing room for two games, but this is GTA 6 we're talking about. Not only does it look set to be the biggest video game launch ever, it's also going to be the biggest… anything Start all times. You could be looking at a situation where the wider gaming public might be saving up their hard-earned money to buy GTA 6, even if they really like the look of the promising Dawn of 007, especially with speculation that Rockstar might end up charging upwards of $70 for it.
So, two months is certainly close enough for 007 to get close to the gravitational pull of the Rockstar behemoth that is sure to have such a massive impact on the video game landscape. Even James Bond in a souped-up Aston Martin doesn't have much chance of breaking free.
It sounds like the developers at IO Interactive know this very well. during an interview Game Industry NetworkCEO Hakan Abrak kindly avoided 007 when asked about GTA 6.
“It would be a lie to say that spring looks really beautiful,” he replied. “I would say GTA 6 is a welcome thing for the industry. I do believe that a lot of gamers who maybe haven't played it in a while are going to get back into it, and overall, for the industry, I think it's going to be amazing.”
Abrak's comments about GTA 6's positive impact echo those of Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, who suggested releasing the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S (sorry, PC gamers, not for you at the moment) Will trigger a surge in game console sales. GTA 6 is so powerful that there's no doubt it will convince a large group of players to finally upgrade from PlayStation 4 or Xbox One to the current generation, or push PC players over the edge so they can enjoy the game at launch.
Let's not forget about the Star Wars movie The Mandalorian and Grogu, which was scheduled to be released the same week as Grand Theft Auto 6. Yes, as the world heads into the next version of Vice City, Grand Theft Auto 6 could be a big hit for all forms of entertainment. Force be damned.
But while there are winners in all this, there are also losers— After GTA 6 delays, IGN investigates. A plethora of games that Microsoft will launch next year could end up taking a serious hit from GTA 6, such as the next Fable, Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War E-Day, and even 2026's Call of Duty. But Sony may be nervous about the prospect of Insomniac's PlayStation 5 exclusive Marvel's Wolverine also being influenced by GTA 6.
James Bond himself has been drinking a celebratory vodka martini, “shaken, not stirred” of course. With the advent of “Grand Theft Auto 6”, the world-famous agent has clearly become successful.
