Publisher Lyrical Games and developer Plot Twist have announced Erosion, a twin-stick roguelike set in the post-apocalyptic Wild West, which will be available in Early Access early next year.
An Xbox Partner Preview trailer for the next game from the Polish studio in Krakow teases a change of pace Benedict Fox's final case The team aims to release a PC Early Access version via Steam and Xbox Game Preview in the spring of 2026. Full launch is expected later that year on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Where Plot Twist's predecessor relied heavily on 2D visuals and a Lovecraftian story, Erosion strives to let players relax in a frenetic open world full of fast-paced combat and rich characters. The trailer promises players to enjoy destructible voxel environments, poker mini-games, customizable vehicles, duels, tons of weapons, and boss fights, but that doesn't mean the team is leaving the story at the door.
“exist erosionIn Erosion's story synopsis, players find themselves in the distant future, where mysterious, sentient rock formations called Pillars are eating away at civilization piece by piece. “They will descend into mysterious pillars and fight through chaotic, fully destructible dungeons, trying to get closer to saving the protagonist's daughter or be completely lost to time.” Every decision changes the story, and every death makes time tick away. “
Years pass between each death in Corrosion, which means players will need to be extra careful if they don't want to see everyone (including their daughter) age during their journey. It's a twist teased in the trailer, and even the environment seems to take a hit over time.
We'll learn more about Erosion in time, so while you wait, be sure to check it out our review Benedict Fox's final case. When it was released in 2023, we gave it a score of 6/10, saying: “Benedict Fox's Last Case is a disappointing, uneven Metroidvania that can be as engrossing as it is infuriating.”
