Baldur's Gate 3 offers you not one, but two Opportunity to craft the perfect character creation. Different races have different customization options, some of which include horns, tails, and scales. You can change nearly every detail – facial features, facial structure, body type, body art, skin tone, hair, and more – to create a truly unique character before you even enter Baldur's Gate. Two new races have been added: Dragonborn and Orcs, both with their own unique characteristics.

Once you create your protagonist, you'll be prompted to do it all over again, creating your spirit guardian, a familiar face that appears in your dreams. Whether it's a sweet dream or a nightmare, it's up to you.

In typical Dungeons & Dragons fashion, there are also plenty of non-aesthetic choices, allowing you to build a character with a specific class, background, and a set of built-in spells and abilities. The choices you make here will affect how the game unfolds, so think carefully about how easily you can become invested in your character before locking yourself in. However, you will be able to respec at certain points in the game (provided you have enough gold), and you can try different builds and preferences if it's not quite right.
