I have owned this box set for many years and can attest to its quality. The comic is printed on thick coated paper and well bound. Fair warning, though: the high-quality material makes these books quite heavy. Put all three books into the slipcase and you get a 22-pound comic, so each book weighs about 7.3 pounds.

The paperback has 1,456 pages, but the full version is divided into four volumes instead of three. If you're buying this series for younger readers, this might be a better choice. When I was learning how to read in kindergarten, I read Calvin and Hobbes, and many other long-time fans probably did the same. It’s not that the content isn’t suitable for early readers, but much of what makes Calvin and Hobbes so great is its wisdom. The clever wit and social commentary will dazzle young readers. As I read Calvin and Hobbes as an adult, I gained a greater appreciation for it.

Adults who like Calvin and Hobbes should consider this Bill Watterson's latest novel, The Mysteries, is available in hardcover for only $8 on Amazon. “Mysteries” is very different from the Calvin and Hobbes stories, but it's a fun illustrated fable for adult readers.
