Have you ever felt like sports commentators like Chris Collinsworth and Joe Davis sometimes go a little crazy with the NFL and MLB broadcasts? Their real-world tangents are nothing compared to some recently discovered dubs from the 2003 MLB Slugfest.
“Enjoy some smoked whale meat at the stall today,” a fictional narrator says in the game. “I don't really like it, but I can't stop eating it.”
Other lines tell of players getting drunk, commentators running into traffic, audio engineers being electrocuted, and even family members being murdered. This is some truly unhinged stuff.
These lines are Video Game History Foundationwhich discovered a CD containing many lines that never reached the player's ears.
“Need more baseball?” one postal Read from their Bluesky account. “We discovered a CD in the archives containing dozens of unused lines from the 2003 MLB Slugfest that were rejected by MLB. Here are some of our favorite lines.”
Clearly, Major League Baseball would never want to be associated with this kind of misconduct, even in the form of a video game.
“There were a lot of families on the field,” another commentator said. “You know Tim, it's good because my family was murdered.”
