This week’s biggest Pokémon card busters and climbers
Blog Andrew Joseph 31 Oct , 2025 0
Three weeks ago today, I recommended Mega Evolution in my weekly Climbers & Climbers articlewhich focuses on a typical night out after a new series airs. Some cards are going up, some are going down, everything is business as usual. Damn sneakerheads!
Fast forward to today, and after what seemed like a huge amount of printing, everything fell apart. Literally every card you can pick from this set is a new low. To me, this is a market correction after a year of price increases in both the sealed and individual card markets due to various factors I've discussed previously.
Mega Evolution: All Destroyers and Zero Climb
While I don’t think we’ve seen the market bubble burst yet, we are seeing a massive market correction that could lead to a reduction in scalped products and increased availability across the board.
If you didn't know by now, I won't be joining the Climbers segment today, but I will be diving into how much value has fallen over the past three weeks and bringing some bargains to my readers along the way.
Here's a look at the top cards in Mega Evolution, where we've seen card numbers drop between 8% and 33% in just three weeks. Full disclosure, the “original price” on these cards was recorded by me on October 10th, so we were on the same page.
Bulbasaur – 133/132
Just like N's Reshiram rare illustration from Journey Together, this Bulbasaur rare illustration also has a Mega Evolution Seal version included in every booster pack.
So it's a bit difficult to say which one is rarer, although I would put my magic coins on the stamped versions that become increasingly rarer over time. Needless to say, this is a gorgeous card regardless, and it's down 23% from October 10th.
Bulbasaur – 133/132 (Mega Evolution Seal)
This is a similar situation to Bulby's Mega Evolution Stamp variant, but the floor on this card seems to be a bit higher than the standard IR.
It's still down 23%, but we've found it's still worth a few dollars more. When you are right, you are right.
In front of giant kangaroo – 182/132
Mega Khankaskhan ex SIR dropped only 8%, but still a drop. The card barely exceeded market expectations, ensuring a level of value for the low-end SIR.
So while we're not seeing a dramatic collapse here, we're getting solid value on this card that will only rise over time.
In front of giant Absol – 180/132
Mega Absol ex SIR is an absolute banger and one of the best of the bunch in my opinion.
For some reason, this card didn't go crazy when Mega Evolution launched, but it's still down 9% to a respectable $96.01.
This is an undervalued card and I highly recommend grabbing it when the value drops.
Alakazam-003 (Staff)
Employee cards are always going to be ridiculously valuable due to a smaller issuing base and being unobtainable in booster packs. Ones are given out during Pokémon TCG events (such as tournaments), and this one has actually dropped by 16%.
Prices in the secondary market always deviate from what people are willing to pay, but it's still a coin toss situation. If you collect employee cards, it might be worth picking up, which is nearly $30 cheaper than on October 10th.
Super Latias from – 181/132
The price is over $20 cheaper, and with the price plummeting 13%, I'm willing to buy the Mega Latias ex SIR for under $150. This is a gorgeous card and features extremely expressive artwork.
I don't think this card will lose any more value, so I recommend picking it out before it recovers.
Giant Bulbasaur – 177/132
Bulbasaur is the best first generation starter and I will live on that hill because I can't die without Bulbasaur by my side. Valid points aside, this card has gotten cheaper over time, and in just three weeks, it's dropped more than $30, or 20%, to $174.80.
I personally think this card can stabilize at $150, but that's just a gut feeling. Considering how playable it is with Meganium, this feels like a good price.
Giant Gardevoir Ex – 178/132
For those who aren't fans of Gold Hyper Rares, this is arguably the chase card in the series, just look at it. Not only is Gardevoir a fan favorite (let's forget about that life-size plush toy), but it's also a work of art. This card has dropped a whopping $80 to a more respectable $234.99, and I'd bet the card will come back up soon.
Super Lucario Front- 179/132
This is one of my favorite cards in the set and features a huge battle between Super Lucario and Super Bulbasaur above Luminous City. To me, this is a continuation of the Sword and Shield era Charizard V Alt Art, which featured Bulbasaur. Featuring top-notch artwork and two fan-favorite Pokémon, and with a 20% discount on October 10th, now is a great time to grab this card.
Giant Gardevoir Ex – 187/132
The decline for this gold rarity is one of the biggest I've seen in a while. This product was on sale for $600 on October 10th and has now dropped a massive 33% to $399, which I think is about the right price now. If history tells us anything, it's that rare gold tends to fall, not rise. But the unique embossed pattern and rainbow holographic effect of Mega Evolution Gold Rares seem to attract more people's attention. Personally, it's not for me, but it's a top chase card right up there with Mega Lucario ex Gold Rare.
Super Lucario Front- 188/132
If you thought $530 was eye-watering, this card was already priced at $630 three weeks ago, so it's definitely going in the right direction. One thing I noticed about the Mega Evolution cards today is that we are at the stage where the cards are reaching new floors. This will attract more buyers, create more demand, and we will see prices rise again. So if you're looking for this card, now might be the perfect time to lock it in.
