The DualSense Edge's enhanced build quality is immediately apparent when you hold the controller. It combines all the cool technology of a standard controller with premium replaceable components and useful input customization options.
PlayStation's pro-style controller includes two different sets of remappable rear paddles. It has traditional paddles and feels very similar to the Elite Series 2. The other two paddles are smaller semicircles. You can only connect one pair at a time, but both designs are sturdy.
Paddles can be replaced in seconds. The hot-swappable design extends to three different styles of analog sticks. Attaches magnetically like the Elite Series 2, and the wand cap snaps into place.
It retains the DualSense's adaptive triggers while adding a switch that changes the distance of travel. Including the default setting, there are three stopping points. The strictest settings effectively turn triggers into buttons.
Two programmable function buttons can be used to cycle through up to 30 custom profiles as well as other settings such as volume.
Profiles can be created in the DualSense Edge settings menu on PS5 or using the PlayStation Accessories app on PC. You can remap all buttons, adjust stick and trigger sensitivity, create dead zones, change the intensity of adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, and save all these settings to custom profiles. You can then assign these profiles to function buttons so you can quickly switch between settings while playing.
DualSense Edge syncs wirelessly via Bluetooth to PS5, PC, Mac and mobile devices. For competitive gamers who prefer a wired connection, the DualSense Edge comes with a removable lock. Fits USB-C braided cables to prevent you from accidentally disconnecting the cable from the controller port. Just like the standard DualSense, adaptive trigger feedback and haptics are generally reserved for wired mode on PC.
The controller and all components are stored neatly in the included hard-shell carrying case. The DualSense Edge was previously only available in a white/black combination, but PlayStation launched a midnight black version earlier this year.
