Halo-inspired fan game now available for free on Steam

Earlier this year, Halo Studios and Microsoft did something very rare in the video game industry By providing permission For a fan-made Halo-inspired game, spartan survivor,keep going. Now, as developer Bathrobe shared in a statement, Spartan Survivor has arrived on Steam.

Spartan survivors are Free on Steamwhich was one of the conditions Halo Studios made when signing on to the project. One of the other requests was for a legal disclaimer on the game's store page and credits, specifically mentioning that the project is not an official Halo game and is not affiliated with Halo Studios or Microsoft in any way.
Batrobe describes the game as a roguelike shooter, a cross between Halo and Bullet Heaven. Players take on the role of Master Chief or Arbiter and fight against hordes of Covenant and Flood enemies. The game is currently only available on PC, but an Xbox Series X|S port is planned for the future.

Halo: Campaign Evolved will be released in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC. As part of Halo's 25th anniversary next year, Microsoft will run light link December 2026 in Seattle.
