New court documents reveal Sony's live-action Horizon Zero Dawn movie has a “working script”

Sony hopes to begin filming the live-action Horizon Zero Dawn movie in 2026 and release it sometime in 2027, according to a new court filing.
gaming post said it had discovered this in a court filing Sony and Tencent continue legal dispute over “The Light of Motiram”which accused the game of being a “knockoff” of the Guerrilla video game Horizon: Zero Dawn.
PlayStation Productions boss Asad Qizilbash said in a legal filing that the Horizon Zero Dawn movie now has a viable script and Sony is looking for a director. The movie is scheduled to start filming next year and be released in 2027.
“We are developing a film based on Horizon with Columbia Pictures,” Chizilbash said in a statement. “We already have a working script and are actively seeking a director, with the goal of shooting the film in 2026 and releasing it in 2027. The live-action film follows recent collaborations between Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions on the 2022 film Uncharted and the 2023 film Gran Turismo.”
Qizilbash also described Horizon's protagonist Aloy as “a key character in the film,” emphasizing her importance “to the flywheel of series building.”
Sony announced Horizon movie at CES 2025 press conference in January. Columbia Pictures’ “2022” is a huge success Uncharted movie Starring Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan, it's no surprise that the collaboration continues.
Speaking at CES, Qizilbash said: “Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions are in the early stages of developing a film adaptation of the award-winning Horizon Zero Dawn.
“Imagine Aloy's beloved origin story set in a vibrant far-future world filled with giant machines, brought to you on the big screen for the first time.”
At the same press conference, Sony announced Film adapted from “Helldiver 2” and Animation series adapted from Ghost of Tsushima.
