Battlefield 6 sparks sports war between Zoomers and Battledads — but developers are looking for somewhere in between

Battlefield 6 Movement is a top concern for EA, Battlefield Studios, and players, as the latest community debate revolves around the topic of Zoom vs. Battlefield.
Few gaming communities value movement mechanics as much as first-person shooter fans. As players old and new alike dive into one of the most popular Battlefield games of all time, everyone is discussing what type of player Battlefield 6 should cater to.
Apparently I'm a “Battledad” now because I like to play games at a slower pace and don't want to be moving around all the time.
That's okay, young man, one day it will hit you too. You'll get it and understand why it's still fun.

While FPS games like Call of Duty have enhanced the mechanics of sports shooters with things like jetpacks, wall running, and, more recently, omnidirectional movement, players have long viewed Battlefield as the yin and yang of the genre, offering a more methodical approach to the tactical military shooter subgenre. So when Battlefield 6's August beta revealed mechanics that were more geared towards sports shooters than the series had previously seen, long-time fans (often and not-so-affectionately known as “Battlefield Dads”) were quick to demand changes.
EA and BF Studios are obliged, Announce Later that month, Battlefield 6's action was tweaked to “create a more balanced and traditional Battlefield experience.” Changes include a reduction in horizontal speed and the hit jump power that many people use to dance around others. Shooting while jumping or gliding has also been nerfed, causing a stir among new fans, often referred to as Zoom gamers, who typically enjoy action shooters like Call of Duty. You can probably see where this is going.
Battlefield 6 developers removed the ability to gain momentum, bunny hop, and remain stationary 10 to 30 feet away from ledges and cover.
DICE introduced aiming penalties when sliding and shooting, jumping and shooting, and trying spam moves.

“Yet another outright campaign from a AAA studio that caters to people who play games for an hour a week and won’t meet anyone using motion technology anyway,” content creator and X/Twitter user @Reave said at the time.
“Oh, go fly a kite, bro” Content Creator and X User @TeioStreams Replied. “If you want action in a shooter, go play COD. Battlefield is a different kind of game.”
Today, months later, that's where the line in the sand remains for fans. Releases have come and gone, although many of the same Battle Dads and others It feels like the action is just rightthose on the zoom side are Campaign to demand reinstatement of Battlefield 6 weakened.
as pointed out computer gamerEA and BF Studios are somewhere in between.
We are considering adjustments to ensure we find a good middle ground, we have made some changes and are monitoring feedback for more 🙂

DICE lead game designer Florian Le Bihan is still active on social media to help players analyze the best path in Battlefield 6. His recent comments may disappoint players on both sides as he tease Minor adjustments will not affect base movement speed.
“We won't be returning to open beta activity, but we are making some minor adjustments that will help address some parts that feel a little clunky,” Bihan said Earlier this week when asked about the proper return of Battlefield 6 campaign from the public August build. “We will share more information about this soon!”
Zoomer players are already on edge, waiting to see how quickly they can get back to the fast-paced Battlefield 6 games they love. Battledads were less than enthusiastic, and some worried about “overkill.”
If you think the current action is worse than the beta, go back to your CoD slop. Beta was good, but now it's even better

“My main concern is that they will overshoot again, like what happened with Battlefield 2042,” A popular post on Reddit explain. “They went from large maps that felt too open to mostly small or medium sized maps. This was complete overkill. Don't repeat the same mistake with Sports DICE.”
We'll have to wait and see how big the upcoming action changes end up being, but with a week until launch, one thing is for sure: the Battlefield 6 team is moving quickly. New fixes for community requests and bugs are released almost daily, including recent examples Includes reduced conquest ticket size (This is Walk back quickly after fan outcry) and Fixed unstable hit registration issue. Upcoming updates promise changes Battlefield 6's annoying lighting systemalso A crackdown on XP farming.
