Ubisoft's “The Crew 2” has now launched a new offline mode, allowing players to play the racing MMO offline as needed. This feature (called blend mode) is already available in Publisher's website.
According to Ubisoft, Hybrid Mode allows us to “freely choose” how to play The Crew 2. Namely, online mode (which is an “original experience designed from the ground up, including multiplayer features, leaderboards, summits, and community sharing”) or offline mode (which the publisher describes as a “new experience”).
“Whether you want to preserve your progress for the future or simply enjoy the freedom of play without an internet connection, Hybrid Mode ensures The Crew 2 will remain playable for years to come,” explains the publisher.
To transfer progress to offline mode, players simply select “Export to offline save” after an online session. Doing so will create a copy of your current progress in the game's multiplayer world and store it locally on your PC or console. However, Ubisoft notes that online and offline saves are separate, so progress made offline will not carry over to online saves. Players will be able to re-export online saves at any time to update offline files.
Custom liveries are not transferred to offline saves.
The Crew 2’s offline mode announced last year The original game was shut down in March 2024. Players of The Crew (which is not a free game, but whose owners can no longer play the game after its shutdown, even alone) are disappointed, and they have reason to fear that The Crew 2 will suffer the same fate.
“We hear your concerns about The Crew,” Ubisoft said at the time. “Today we want to express our commitment to the future of The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest. We can confirm offline modes to ensure long-term access to both games.”
Ubisoft then Sued after suspension of businesslitigation Publisher response insists that purchasing the game does not give players “unrestricted ownership,” but only a “limited license to access the game.”
