“If we were good at juggling four projects, yes, we would have a remake” – Ghost of Yotei Dev Sucker Punch says it will remain a single-project studio

What’s next for Sucker Punch now? The Ghost of Mount Yotei Outside the door? The Sony-owned studio has yet to take a stance, but according to comments from its boss, it will remain a single-project studio.

during an interview gas chromatographySucker Punch co-founder and studio head Brian Fleming said the studio will decide on its next project once the multiplayer add-on Soul of the Shadows: Legend launches in 2026. However, he advises, don't expect a series of games from a relatively lean developer – it's just one project at a time.

“The truth is, whatever we do next, whether it's continuing Ghost or going back to Sly, that decision is really more constrained by our cherishment of focus and iteration time, which means we can only do one thing at a time,” he said.

“If we were good at juggling four projects, yeah, we’d have a remake, let’s do one of those and then do one of those and do some fan requests, that would be a hit… but we can only do one thing.

“So this has to be your best idea, right? That's really clear. It's not that there aren't 15 good ideas. But you can only do one. And by the way, you can only do one about every five years. So that choice is really important. I mean, pick your college and your major every five years.”

There's a lot to draw from in Sucker Punch's back catalog. As Fleming mentioned, one of its classic series is Sly Cooper and fans are clamoring for its return in some form. What about the Notorious series? Will remakes and sequels be successful? There's also the possibility of another Ghost game following Tsushima and Yotei. After all, everyone loves a trilogy.
