The Legend of Zelda Collector's Chess Set is In stock on Amazon for $45. The officially licensed Zelda-themed chess set was released in June and is produced by prolific board game maker The Op Games. Since its launch, it has frequently been sold out. This handsome version of the classic tabletop game features gold and black statues based on Hyrule's greatest heroes and villains.

The Legend of Zelda-themed chess game pits Link, Zelda and their allies against Ganondorf and the various evil forces threatening the kingdom of Hyrule. Link and Ganondorf appropriately serve as king pawns, while Zelda and Tenenova serve as queens.

Hyrule's main hero is surrounded by four supporting characters who have appeared in numerous games, including Ocarina of Time: Navi, Impa, Darunia and Link's trusty mount Epona.

In terms of villains, Ganondorf also joins the cast of twin Gerudo witches “Twinrova”, Iron Knuckles from The Legend of Zelda II, the Phantom and Phantom Hourglass from Soul Tracks, as well as series regulars Amos and Deku Skrulls.

The heroes are represented as miniature gold statues, while the villains are represented as black chess pieces. All parts are weathered, rusted and look great.

While this isn't a completely new release, it still deserves praise for its Super Mario Chess set. This toy features 32 custom sculpted and hand-painted figures depicting modern character models such as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Bowser, Bowser Jr. and more. Plus, it's only $35 Walmart and Target (or $42 Amazon).

On the front line, the Mushroom Kingdom's side's pieces come in the form of gold coins, while Bowser's disposable unit is the Koopa Shell.

The game pieces in this version are all based on iconic weapons and symbols such as Link's Shield, Ocarina of Time, and the Triforce.
