Developer Hellraiser: Revival Intent to push its M rating with the upcoming video game adaptation.
Clive Barker's Revival is a story-driven, single-player survival horror action game set in the Hellraiser Universe. It was developed by Boss Team Games, the creator of the most recent Delisted Evil Dead: The Game and will be released via Steam on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, as well as on PC.
Hellraiser is a cult classic horror series made from 11 movies and various comics, all based on the Hell's novella by British writer Clive Barker. The star of the show is Pinhead, a “Cenobite” who harvests human soul torture in sadistic experiments. You can see this in the trailer where – Content Warning! – Contains as much sex as body horror.
Hellraiser: The revival is not for the faint of heart. If you want to know how extreme the game is, be sure to check out IGN's Hands-on Hellraiser: Revival Preview About all the bloody details. But in short, expect physical horror, sexual behavior, no forbidden nudity, nightmarish scenes and healthy hell.
We say it's a “residential evil for the sick”, but with Hellraiser, but how extreme will the developers of Saber Interactive be? In an interview with IGN, Saber Development head Tim Willits said the studio plans to push Hellraiser to people who set rules around M ratings will allow them.
“We will go as far as the people who make the rules, as much as we can,” Willett insists. “I wish we could make a version, but we'd like to go as much as we can.”
Of course, so far, our view of Hellraiser: Revival is consistent with Clive Barker's Classic Hellraiser movies, so there is no real difference anyway. But it’s unique to see and do all these horrible things from a first person perspective, which is much more than watching movies in a theater or at home.
“We want to be responsible publishers/developers, but we will push it as much as possible in the context of games and movies.”
Clive Barker is working with Saber on “Revival: Revival” to make sure it fits his vision for the universe. Willett added that such back and forth people should lead to movie fans really kicking out.
“He came back and said, 'Yes, Pinhead wouldn't do that.' “He came back and said, 'Yes, you have to make some adjustments to that. “Because this is his world, he knows something we don't even think about.
“And he's quick, too. Sometimes, when you work with celebrities, you throw things away, and then six months later, they come back and they complain about something. No, that's what he is.”
Doug Bradley, the original actor behind Cenobite leader Pinhead, reprising the game’s role, adding to the authenticity of the project.
This is the official work:
Discovering the story of Aidan, Aidan must unlock the dark powers configured by Genesis, a mysterious puzzle box to help his girlfriend get rid of a hellish abyss. As Aidan, you will use the box's hell powers to survive the contract as a sinister little brain, and fight against the twisted cult that worships him and the cenobites. Failure, even in hell, your pain will be legendary.
Hellraiser reintegrates public consciousness in the 2022 reboot film. IGN's Hellraiser Comments Returned 8/10. We said: “Hellraiser is a reboot that starts with Jamie Clayton’s worthy little needle show, which pays great respect for Clive Barker’s work.”
